Website cost

The cost of a website in Bosnia depends on 4 things: the number of pages, the functionality, the integrations, and who prepares the content. That is why the same sentence - "I need a website" - means a one-day job for one client and two months of development for another. This page explains exactly what moves the number.

Types

Three types of site and how they differ

First you need to know which type you actually need. The difference in scope between them is several-fold, and so is the price.

Landing page

One page, one goal

from 890 KM
indicative, VAT excluded
  • A single long page with a clear call to action
  • Enquiry form and conversion tracking
  • Built alongside a Google Ads or Meta campaign
  • Fastest build - usually 1 to 2 weeks
  • Measured purely by the number of enquiries

Brochure website

The usual choice for small business

from 1,560 KM
indicative, VAT excluded
  • 5 to 10 pages
  • A CMS you use to edit content yourself
  • Responsive design and technical SEO
  • Google Business Profile and Search Console
  • Timeline 3 to 4 weeks

Online store

When you sell directly from the site

from 4,900 KM
indicative, VAT excluded
  • Catalogue, cart and checkout
  • Card or cash-on-delivery payment
  • Order tracking and stock levels
  • Optional fiscal system integration
  • Timeline 6 to 10 weeks

Figures are indicative, VAT excluded, and meant for budgeting. The final website cost is quoted only after a call, because only then is the real scope known.

Factors

What determines the website cost

If you compare two quotes that differ by a factor of two, the difference is almost always in one of these lines - not in one agency simply being more expensive.

  • Number of pages. Every page is design, copy and optimisation. Five pages and thirty pages are not the same job.
  • Functionality. Cart, payments, bookings, user accounts, a calculator or multiple languages. Each is separate development and testing.
  • Integrations. Connecting to accounting software, a stock system, the fiscal system, a CRM or booking platforms.
  • Content. If you supply finished text and photos the price is lower. Copywriting, translation and photography are separate lines.
  • Design. Working from a prepared theme is cheaper than a design built from scratch around your brand.
  • Timeline. A rush build means rescheduling other projects and as a rule raises the price.
Included

What should be in the price but often is not

When comparing quotes, check that these are covered. This is where the differences appear at the end of a project.

Responsive design

Responsive design is not an add-on service, it is the condition for the site to work. If it is charged separately, something is wrong with the quote.

Basic technical SEO

Heading structure, meta data, sitemap, Schema markup and Search Console. Without it the site exists but Google struggles to find it.

SSL and HTTPS

The certificate is free with most hosting today. Charging HTTPS as a separate line has no justification.

Speed optimisation

Image compression, lazy loading and caching. A slow site loses visitors before it loads, so this is not cosmetic.

CMS training

A short session and written instructions on editing content yourself. Without it you call the agency to change a phone number.

Handover of access

Domain, hosting and admin panel in your name. If handover is charged or refused, that is client lock-in.

Ongoing costs

What you pay after the build

The build is one-off, but a website has annual costs too. Better to know them up front.

Domain and hosting

Annual, paid to the provider

from 120 KM / year
indicative, VAT excluded
  • Domain renews once a year
  • Hosting monthly or annually
  • SSL certificate usually included
  • Registered in your name

Maintenance

Monthly, optional

from 80 KM / month
indicative, VAT excluded
  • CMS and plugin updates
  • Backups and security monitoring
  • Small content edits
  • Speed and error monitoring

SEO and ads

Monthly, optional

from 1,080 KM / month
indicative, VAT excluded
  • Ongoing work on visibility
  • New content and optimisation
  • Google Ads budget is separate
  • See SEO pricing

Maintenance is not compulsory. If you have someone who can handle it internally, we hand over all access and instructions at no charge.

Saving

Where it pays to save, and where it does not

It pays to save on a from-scratch design if a well adapted theme is enough, on copywriting if you can write it yourself, and on the number of pages in version one - they can always be added later.

It does not pay to save on speed and the mobile version, because the visitor gives up before seeing anything. Nor on basic technical SEO, because a site Google cannot find is paid for in vain. Nor on photography, which in hospitality, rentals and trades carries the decision directly.

The most expensive saving is the one that leads to a second build a year later - then the website cost was not low, only deferred. A site built on a platform that cannot be migrated, without access and without room to add content, usually means paying for everything again within two years.

If you are not sure what you need, read the guide on how to build a website - it also covers when the DIY route genuinely makes sense.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website cost in Bosnia?

It depends on the type and scope. A landing page with a single goal is the cheapest, a brochure site of 5 to 10 pages is the middle band, and an online store with payments and stock is several times higher. We give a concrete quote after a short call that establishes the real scope.

Why do quotes differ so much?

Most often because they do not cover the same scope. One includes copy, technical SEO and training, another only installing a ready-made theme. Before comparing, ask for a list of what is included - the difference is almost always there, not in the hourly rate.

Do I pay everything up front?

The usual arrangement is two or three instalments - part at the start, part midway and the balance on handover. On larger projects instalments are tied to phases, so each one follows something you have seen and approved.

Are there hidden costs?

Not with us. The quote is written, lists everything included and is valid for 30 days. Anything not on that list is not charged later without agreement. Domain and hosting are a separate annual cost paid directly to the provider.

How much does monthly maintenance cost?

Maintenance starts at 80 KM per month and covers updates, backups, security and small content edits. It is optional - if you have someone who can handle it internally, we hand over access and instructions at no extra charge. Ongoing SEO and ad management is a separate service, from 1,080 KM per month.

Is it cheaper to build the site myself?

In money yes, in time usually not. On a ready-made platform you pay the domain, hosting and a monthly subscription, and everything else is your time. For testing an idea that is a reasonable route; once the site has to generate enquiries, the limit shows quickly.

What if I only need a redesign?

A redesign is usually cheaper than starting over, provided the existing site is technically sound and you have access. We review it first and tell you honestly whether it is worth fixing or rebuilding.

Does a higher price mean better rankings?

Not directly. An expensive site with no content will not rank. What matters is whether technical SEO, speed and a structure that supports adding content are included - and those are exactly the lines cheap quotes tend to leave out.
